Jackfruit is an interesting vegetable alternative to meat, which is unique on the Polish market. It is a tropical fruit of the jackfruit tree growing mainly in Asia. In Europe, it has been gaining popularity among the people who want to reduce their meat consumption, but primarily among vegetarians and vegans. Green jackfruit is quite neutral in taste and, when properly prepared, its texture and appearance resemble meat. Thanks to its texture it also easily absorbs the flavors of spices and herbs. In the kitchen it has many uses. It can be braised, fried and seasoned exactly like any meat dish. All spices of Indian, Mexican, Asian and American cuisine go well with it. It can be used to prepare not only vegan burgers, but also chops, fries, curry-type stews and many other original dishes.
